Contributor Guidelines

We’re accepting pitches for stories that examine cultural themes in Caribbean film & tv.

juliemango.tv is a media platform built to explore the cultural impact of Caribbean film and television. juliemango.tv is committed to shaping the way Caribbean film, tv, & digital screen works are reported in the media.

Our definition of culture borrows from Raymond Williams’ analysis that asserts culture is about a ‘whole way of life’. For us, culture is first and foremost about perspective, with the understanding that the groups we belong to within our community, how we enrich our identity, and the activities we pursue are varied and so are our points of view.

We seek perspectives from writers, podcasters, and video creators who contextualize the relationship between Caribbean screen productions and culture. juliemango.tv is the Caribbean film lovers’ guide to viewing experiences, welcoming conversations with creators of Caribbean Heritage, essays and culture-based reviews that analyze the nuance of regional and Diaspora experiences, creating a juicy slice of Caribbean film culture.

We’re committed to amplifying the voices of Caribbean content creators and strengthening this discourse around how Caribbean cultural identity is permeated through film. The works we’re interested in are less about if a film should be consumed by the reader and more of an evaluation of its cultural contribution or reflection.

We’re accepting pitches for interviews, features, and original video/audio commentary. Please complete our pitch submission form. See the guidelines below.

Pitches should be concise and include your headline in the subject line, the film you wish to examine, the cultural themes you will explore in your piece, the name of your interview subject (where applicable), and links to the film’s credits or screener.

Please also include links to your bio, portfolio, and writing samples.

We don’t accept or republish fully written articles or series ideas. If you produce an existing video or podcast series that covers Caribbean film, contact us about our syndication program, MRKT.
